Chocolate Tofu Smoothie
Creamy, chocolatey and naturally sweet, you’d never know there’s silken tofu hiding in this smoothie. It adds plant-based protein and soy isoflavones, while cacao make it taste more like a chocolate shake than a nutrient-packed breakfast.
Chocolate Tofu Smoothie
3+ Plants
1/2 cup milk of choice
1-2 tbsp cacao
2 tsp maple syrup
1 cup silken tofu
Pinch salt
Instructions:
Add all the ingredients to a blender, and process until very smooth. Give it a taste and adjust the ingredients to your taste if needed.
Add more plants:
Use a plant based milk such as soy, oat, coconut or almond.
Nut or seed butter will add richness, plus some more protein, fibre and fats for added nutrition. Great for a more filling breakfast option. Peanut butter, almond or cashew butter are delicious.
Half a frozen banana or some avocado makes the smoothie thicker and creamier.
Mix up the flavour and antioxidants with some berries or a couple of fresh mint leaves.
Notes:
If you decrease the milk and add in a tablespoon of chia seeds, you’ll end up with more of a pudding or mousse-like texture for a nutrient rich dessert, or a decadent breakfast.
